2015 Nominations For The NADJ National Committee
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a vital element in the running of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ). It gives our members their democratic right to elect the officers they feel will take the Association forward for the next year. As you will all be aware, the next AGM of the NADJ takes place at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland on Sunday 26th April 2015.
All Full Members of the NADJ with up to date membership subscriptions and valid PAT test documents on file with us are eligible to nominate another Full Member for a position on the National Committee. There are three elected positions: Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. The AGM will take place at the end of the day, once the seminars are completed.
Our members have the duty to play an active part in the running of their Association and they are encouraged to speak to any nominee before putting their name forward. This is not only good etiquette to ask or inform the DJ of their proposed nomination, but it also means that the member does not waste their nomination.
Please remember that a nomination is not a vote. It’s very easy to get the terminology or concept mixed up and we’ve had to correct a number of people over that misconception. As our members decide who runs the National Association of Disc Jockeys each year, they must first put forward candidates to stand for an elected position first. When the nomination process has closed, the nominees are contacted and they are asked if they wish to stand.
If, after all the nominees have been contacted, there are multiple candidates standing for a position a vote will then take place at the AGM. A ballot is the chosen option and the eligible Full Members at the meeting will cast their vote on who will take up the positions (where necessary). No other methods of voting take place, the Full Member of the NADJ must be at the AGM to cast their vote.
To help our members decide which candidate is the best person to take up their role, we will pose each nominee a series of questions. Their answers should help our members make up their mind on who they will vote for at the AGM.
Each eligible member of the NADJ will be sent an e-mail with instructions on how to nominate. We have a simple to fill in form on the www.nadj.org.uk website and the visitor must log in to access that form. The nomination form/process is not currently open and members will be given sufficient time (as per the Constitution) to get their nominations in.
